I wrote this in my bedroom in the middle of the night. During the pandemic, this practice became habitual. In my mind, Montana will always belong to that period of time. When I brought the tune to the recording session, it was still untitled. Cedric suggested the name Montana, and it stuck. The form of the song is circular and slippery, and features a brutal trumpet trio moment between Evan, Wes, and Ced. -Ethan Ditthardt, Composer.
